Job summary

The Hertfordshire Mental Health Support Team (MHST) invites applications for a CYP-PT Therapies Trainee Systemic Family Practitioner. This NHSE-funded post combines clinical training with academic study and will start January 2027.

You will hold a caseload across South MHST and South CYPMHS, travel to Denmark Hill Campus of King's College London for teaching, and, on completion, receive a KCL Postgraduate Diploma.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a second-class Bachelor's degree from a UK university or an overseas qualification of equivalent standard.
• Registerable professional qualification (e.g. psychologist, social worker, CBT therapist, MBACP Accred) and experience in public or voluntary sector.
• Experience of risk management and safeguarding.
• Experience of multi-agency and multidisciplinary working.

Responsibilities

• Holding a caseload across the South MHST and South CYPMHS and applying learning from CYP training.
• Assessing suitability for Systemic Family Therapy for children, young people and families.
• Signposting, transfer or onward referral as appropriate following i-THRIVE principles.
• Convey therapy formulations in clear language and involve the family system as appropriate.
• Attend multi-disciplinary meetings and maintain accurate records in the patient records system.
