Job summary

South West London and St Georges Mental Health NHS Trust offers a CYP Psychological Practitioner Trainee position as part of the NHSE-funded programme. The 1-year post combines community-based clinical work with formal teaching at Anna Freud/UCL and a funded training year.

During the year you will work with infants and young children within the Under 5 CAMHS service, travel to Central London for teaching, and progress toward a UCL Postgraduate Diploma upon completion.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience with the development and wellbeing of children 0-5 and their families.
• Experience of multi-agency working and liaising across internal and external agencies.
• Strong experience working with children, young people and families with mental health problems and/or other disabilities.
• Demonstrates adaptability and experience working in ethnically and racially diverse communities.
• Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team.
• Considerable experience delivering both group and individual interventions.

Responsibilities

• Assist qualified psychotherapists and applied psychologists in delivering psychological interventions for infants, children and their carers.
• Assist with information and self-help materials for service users under supervision.
• Undertake protocol-based psychological assessments using measures, rating scales, observations and interviews.
• Assist in formulation and delivery of mental health care involving psychological interventions under supervision.
• Coordinate and run groups and workshops as needed.
