Job summary

Cybersecurity Engineer – Belfast for a leading global technology and defence organisation. Hybrid Belfast location with focus on Data and Database Security across enterprise environments.

You will work with customers to protect critical data, optimise security environments and provide technical guidance. SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL and NoSQL experience are valued, with cloud security and incident response skills enabling broader enterprise impact.

Qualifications

• Experience in cyber or data security with enterprise databases.
• Strong SQL knowledge with experience in SQL Server, Oracle or MySQL.
• Familiarity with NoSQL databases like MongoDB.
• Cloud security experience in AWS, Azure or GCP.
• Security engineering, incident response or troubleshooting.
• Experience with enterprise security platforms such as Imperva is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise across Data and Database Security within enterprise environments.
• Configure, maintain and optimise security platforms and policies.
• Analyse security events and support incident response and root-cause analysis.
• Troubleshoot complex technical and security issues.
• Support the deployment and configuration of security solutions across on-premise and cloud environments.
• Work closely with enterprise customers, providing technical guidance and consultancy.
• Assess customer environments and recommend appropriate security improvements.
• Collaborate with internal engineering, sales and customer success teams.
• Contribute to technical best practice and knowledge sharing within the wider engineering team.
• Support the ongoing development and optimisation of enterprise security solutions.

Cybersecurity Engineer – Belfast
Base location: Belfast, Northern Ireland (Hybrid)

The Opportunity

We are supporting a leading global technology and defence organisation in the appointment of a Cybersecurity Engineer to join their Enterprise Services team in Belfast.

This is a highly technical, customer-facing position focused primarily on Data and Database Security, working with enterprise customers to protect critical data, resolve complex security challenges and optimise their security environments.

The role would suit someone from a Cybersecurity, Data Security, Database Security or Application Security background who has strong database knowledge and enjoys solving complex technical problems.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise across Data and Database Security within complex enterprise environments
• Configure, maintain and optimise security platforms and policies

About You

We are particularly interested in people with experience in:

• Cybersecurity, Data Security, Database Security or Application Security
• Strong SQL knowledge and experience working with databases such as SQL Server, Oracle or MySQL
• Exposure to MongoDB / NoSQL databases
• Understanding of Data or Database Security
• Cloud infrastructure and security, ideally within AWS, Azure or GCP
• Security engineering, technical troubleshooting or incident response
• Web and application security, including familiarity with the OWASP Top 10
• Networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, HTTP/S, DNS, SSL/TLS, reverse proxies and firewalls
• Linux-based operating systems and scripting such as Python or Bash

Experience with Imperva or similar enterprise security platforms would be advantageous, but is not essential.
