Job summary

Fortinet in London is seeking a software engineer to join our Insight Team at Moorgate, four days per week on-site. You will work on policies, detection techniques, ML, data identifiers, and backend services in Go, C/C++, and Python, with a focus on security and reliability.

The role requires a CS degree, strong programming background, and collaboration across teams to ship features from specs to releases in a fast-paced cybersecurity environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Strong CS concepts: memory management, concurrency, and backend development principles.
• Several years of professional software engineering experience.
• Experience with Java, C, C++, or similar languages; open to learning Go.
• Familiarity with Python or similar scripting languages.
• Interest in data science, ML, analytics, or NLP applied to security.
• Clear communicators who collaborate well across disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain policies in Starlark for endpoints to detect unauthorized activity.
• Investigate new cybersecurity detection techniques.
• Apply ML and statistics to detect anomalies.
• Develop data identifiers, such as regex, to detect sensitive data.
• Contribute to content extraction and infrastructure in C, C++, and Swift.
• Enhance execution environment for policies built in Go.
• Manage policy lifecycle in backend systems with Go, Protobuf, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch.
• Collaborate on browser extensions, mail plugins, REST APIs, and frontend improvements.
• Cover full development lifecycle from specs to demos and releases.
• Work with support and QA to ensure smooth rollout.
