Job summary

Sanderson Government & Defence is seeking engineers to analyze threats and evolve capabilities by exploring existing and emerging technologies. You will design, prototype, and test tooling to meet novel customer requirements while maintaining integrity as a trusted advisor across mission-led programmes.

The role emphasizes software development, secure architectures, and DevOps practices, with a focus on delivering robust, testable software within modern IDEs and AI-enhanced tooling.

Qualifications

• Experience applying software analysis and reverse engineering to real systems.
• Familiarity with Linux-based OS internals and security architecture.
• Proficiency with virtualization, emulation and containerisation for dev and testing.
• Experience deploying AI-based systems for software development or analysis.
• Ability to deliver engineering software from design to delivery in modern IDEs using Agile methods.
• Experience writing testable code and integrating with automated verification pipelines.

Job description

• Research. Dive deep into existing and emerging technologies. You will work alongside one or more of our teams to understand threats, evolve capabilities and innovate new solutions.
• Design, prototype, build and test. Challenge your creativity. Our customers have novel requirements. The tools you build will ultimately help protect lives and our National Security.

• Advise. You will act as a trusted advisor, in a position that demands integrity.

What You'll Bring:

• You will apply your experienceto mission-led programmes. Youwill haveskills in a number oftheareasbelow: Software analysis and reverse engineering of compiled or interpreted code that could be obfuscated or defensively structured in various tools such as Ghidra or IDA pro.
• Linux-based operating system internals, security architecture and hardware abstraction.
• Use of virtualisation, emulation and containerisation for accelerated development, automated testing and DevOps.
• Use and deployment of AI-based systems for software development, analysis or Agentic solutions.
• Engineering software from design to delivery in modern IDEs and languages, using Agile delivery.
• Creating tested and testable code. Integrating with automated verification systems, CI and CD pipelines.
