Job summary

Gateshead Council is seeking a Cyber Security Manager to lead a specialist team, safeguard digital assets and raise the security posture across the council and partners. You will champion best practice, develop resilience and drive secure transformation in a hybrid working environment.

This senior role shapes strategy, governance and the implementation of innovative security solutions, while enabling services that matter to residents and communities.

Qualifications

• Degree or significant equivalent in cyber security or a related field.
• CISSP or equivalent recognised qualification.
• Experience leading cyber security services in a large organisation.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Cyber Security Team ensuring secure, resilient systems.
• Shape and deliver the council's cyber security strategy and standards.
• Governance, risk, compliance and assurance (GRC) programme leadership.
• Design and implement security controls supporting innovation.
• Identify and manage cyber risks with effective mitigations.
• Provide expert guidance to senior leaders and manage suppliers.
