Job summary

A leading organisation in the Bristol area is seeking a Cyber Security Engineer to join its growing team. This role involves a consultative and hands-on approach to designing, implementing, and maintaining security controls in both hybrid and on-premises IT environments. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cyber security and IT infrastructure security, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in either a Cyber Security or IT Infrastructure Security role.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft-based environments across both on-prem and cloud environments.
• Experience working alongside solution designers to advise on security controls.
• Understanding of network security principles, including firewalls and secure access.
• Knowledge of identity and access management, including MFA and RBAC.
• Familiarity with common regulatory and compliance frameworks.
• Experience aligning infrastructure builds with cyber security standards.
• Experience implementing monitoring and alerting tools including SIEM.
• Understanding of data classification and secure storage principles.
• Experience defining security configurations and applying them consistently.
• Familiarity with endpoint protection platforms and vulnerability management.
• Experience securing hybrid identity solutions.
• Understanding of security automation concepts.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain security controls across IT environments.
• Ensure infrastructure platforms are secure, resilient, and compliant.
• Produce security artefacts and maintain documentation.
