Proximity Recruitment Ltd. is seeking a hands-on Cyber Security Engineer for a leading fintech firm based near Northampton. The role offers circa GBP60,000–GBP70,000 plus a 15% bonus and benefits, with office-based work five days a week.

You will collaborate with IT operations, development and platform teams, and external security partners to strengthen security controls, manage vulnerabilities, and drive incident response and compliance programs across the organisation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years cyber security experience
• Degree educated in a relevant field
• Based in or able to work in Northamptonshire or commutable area

• Review and strengthen security configurations and third‑party integrations.

Proximity is searching for a talented Cyber Security Engineer (circa GBP60,000 – GBP70,000 + 15% Bonus + Benefits) to join one of Europe's fastest growing fintech firms based in Northamptonshire.

You will work closely with IT operations, development & platform teams, as well as selected external security providers in a key cyber role for the firm. The position is office based 5 days a week.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain & improve security controls across identity, endpoint, cloud, business applications and supporting infrastructure, promoting least–privilege & zero–trust principles.
• Review & strengthen security configurations, device compliance, cloud services, SaaS applications, third–party integrations & technical designs.
• Operate vulnerability & exposure–management processes, coordinate remediation with system owners & verify corrective actions.
• Investigate security alerts & incidents, maintain incident–response procedures, coordinate response activities & drive improvements through exercises & post–incident reviews.
• Produce security risk, incident & remediation reports; support audits, customer assurance & compliance activities; & develop technical security standards, procedures & guidance.

The role is the first cyber piece in a 220–person business meaning the client is looking for a hands–on individual with the ability to grow strategically. The successful candidate will have 5+ years cyber experience and be degree educated. The position will be 5 days a week in the office.
