Job summary

National Gas, based in Warwick with hybrid working, is seeking a Head of Cyber Operations to lead cyber defence across CNI and OT. You will oversee CSIRT, threat intelligence, vulnerability management, and policy playbooks to protect critical infrastructure and enterprise systems.

The role requires extensive leadership, incident handling, threat hunting, and collaboration with external partners. A security clearance is anticipated and a competitive package is offered.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in managing cybersecurity teams and programs.
• In-depth knowledge of incident response, threat detection and threat intelligence.
• Familiarity with CNI and OT technology, including SCADA.
• Proficiency in cybersecurity tools, technologies and standards.
• Strong leadership, project management and communication skills.
• Knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance standards.
• Industry certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CEH).
• Experience in red teaming, threat modelling and adversarial simulation.
• Familiarity with national and international cybersecurity standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage multiple cybersecurity teams, ensuring efficient and effective operations.
• Provide guidance and support to team leads and members.
• Foster a culture of excellence, learning, and collaboration within the teams.
• Engage with stakeholders, report to senior management, and collaborate with external partners.
• Develop and implement a comprehensive cyber operations strategy for CNI and OT systems.
• Establish and update policies, procedures, and playbooks to respond to cyber threats.
• Ensure alignment with national and international cybersecurity standards and regulations.
• Oversee the management of cyber incidents, ensuring timely and effective responses.
• Lead the CSIRT in monitoring and detecting cybersecurity threats and incidents in real-time.
• Collaborate with teams to conduct incident investigations and develop response plans.
• Develop and maintain threat intelligence capabilities to stay ahead of emerging threats.
• Lead proactive threat hunting initiatives to identify and mitigate potential threats.
• Collaborate with external sources and information sharing organizations for threat information.
• Manage vulnerability assessments and penetration testing programs to identify weaknesses.
• Ensure timely remediation of vulnerabilities by working with stakeholders.
• Review testing findings and provide guidance for security improvements.
