You will advise on breach response, notification strategy, and regulatory engagement with the ICO, while collaborating with partners, data protection specialists and external advisers in a supportive, hybrid working environment for high-profile clients.

Qualifications

• Qualified solicitor with 2-4 years of experience in contentious data protection and cyber matters.
• Experience advising on cyber incidents, data breaches and regulatory response.
• Strong knowledge of UK data protection legislation and ICO guidance.

Responsibilities

• Advise on cyber incidents and data breaches through lifecycle.
• Support urgent breach response and crisis management.
• Advise on ransomware, data breaches, DDoS, and hacks.

The Opportunity

The firm's highly regarded Media & Information team is recognised for its expertise in information litigation and has a fast-growing cyber and data practice.

The team is now looking to hire a Contentious Cyber & Data Associate to advise on complex matters arising from cyber incidents, data breaches and wider information disputes.

The new Contentious Cyber & Data Associate will work closely with Partners and senior lawyers across the team, with the opportunity to broaden their practice into wider areas of information law including defamation, privacy, harassment and other reputation-related disputes.

This will include:

• Advising clients throughout the lifecycle of cyber incidents and data breaches
• Supporting urgent breach response and crisis management
• Advising on ransomware attacks, data breaches, DDoS attacks and hacks
• Advising on notification strategy and regulatory engagement with the ICO
• Providing advice on UK data protection legislation and regulatory requirements
• Advising on subject access requests and wider regulatory compliance matters
• Handling contentious matters arising following data breaches
• Acting on information and data litigation for both claimants and defendants
• Advising on breach preparation and cyber incident simulations
• Working alongside technical cyber specialists and other external advisers

Required

• Qualified solicitor with 2 - 4 years of experience in contentious data protection and cyber matters
• Experience advising on cyber incidents, data breaches and regulatory response
