Job summary

Birchrose Associates, a London law firm with a market-leading media and entertainment practice, is seeking a Contentious Cyber & Data Associate to handle complex matters arising from cyber incidents and data breaches.

You will advise on breach response, notification strategy, and regulatory engagement with the ICO, while collaborating with partners, data protection specialists and external advisers in a supportive, hybrid working environment for high-profile clients.

Qualifications

• Qualified solicitor with 2-4 years of experience in contentious data protection and cyber matters.
• Experience advising on cyber incidents, data breaches and regulatory response.
• Strong knowledge of UK data protection legislation and ICO guidance.

Responsibilities

• Advise on cyber incidents and data breaches through lifecycle.
• Support urgent breach response and crisis management.
• Advise on ransomware, data breaches, DDoS, and hacks.
• Advise on notification strategy and ICO engagement.
• Provide guidance on UK data protection law and regulatory requirements.
• Handle subject access requests and other regulatory matters.
• Manage contentious data breach litigation for claimants and defendants.
• Advise on breach preparation and cyber incident simulations.
• Collaborate with technical cyber specialists and external advisers.
