Job summary

Zachary Daniels is partnering with an established consumer brand based in North Yorkshire to recruit a Customs Manager for a brand new function. The role oversees end-to-end customs activity across the international supply chain, ensuring compliance, accurate classifications, and efficient movement of goods across markets.

The position is hybrid, with 3 days in the office, offering ownership of the customs function and opportunities to influence processes with senior stakeholders across Supply

Qualifications

• Must have proven experience in a Customs, Import/Export or International Trade management role.
• Strong knowledge of UK import and export regulations.
• Experience working with customs brokers and freight forwarders.
• Good understanding of commodity classification, rules of origin, duty and customs valuation.
• Experience in fashion/homeware, retail, consumer goods or similar international product-led environment.
• Strong Excel and reporting capability.

Responsibilities

• Managing the end-to-end customs operation across the Group.
• Overseeing import and export customs processes and ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Managing relationships with customs brokers, freight forwarders and other external partners.
• Ensuring accurate commodity codes, country of origin, customs valuations and supporting documentation.
• Monitoring duty and tax exposure and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and costs.
• Keeping the business up to date with changes to international customs legislation.
• Supporting development of international trading and distribution processes.
• Working with Supply Chain, Finance, Buying, Warehousing and other stakeholders.
• Reviewing and improving customs processes, controls and reporting.
• Supporting customs audits and maintaining records and documentation.
• Providing guidance across the business on customs and international trade matters.
