Job summary

HTE Recruitment is seeking a Customs Compliance Co-ordinator for a freight forwarder in the Heathrow area. The role involves ensuring all paperwork is correct and handling trade compliance, CITES, and customs duties.

You will work on tariff classifications, UK import requirements from the EU, and support internal projects. The ideal candidate has 2–4 years in a similar role and familiarity with CITES procedures.

Qualifications

• Freight knowledge and customs/trade compliance experience in a large business or brokerage.
• 2-4 years experience in a similar Customs-facing role.
• Knowledge of UK & EU customs regulations and documentation.
• Familiar with IMPROT and EXPORT permits for CITES.

Responsibilities

• Determine correct tariff classifications for brands within the Key Account function as required when moving from the EU.
• Issue country-specific guidance for the UK on additional import requirements for stock products from the EU.
• Audit and monitor entries to ensure compliance with import/export legislation and KPI audits.
• Complete CITES applications and ensure trackers are up to date; arrange air bookings for CITES permits.
• Complete all Import, Export, Transit, ICS and ENS declarations in line with regulations.

Job description

Trade Compliance Co-ordinator / Customs Compliance Co-ordinator required for a freight forwarder in the Heathrow area, this freight forwarder imports and exports goods via air and ocean. The Compliance Co-ordinator will ensure all the paperwork is correct. You will be responsible for the Trade Compliance, CITES and Customs. £(phone number removed), monday to friday

The role

As a Customs Compliance Co-ordinator you will be responsible for the following:

• Complete the Product Libraries
• Being able to determine correct tariff classifications for all supported brands within the Key Account function moving from the EU as required.
• Issuing country specific guidance (for the UK) to the business on additional import requirements for stock products predominantly from the EU.
• Providing support on internal projects where input, involvement or expertise where Trade Compliance is needed.
• Auditing and monitoring entries to ensure they are compliant with local import and export legislation, as well as to support brand KPI audit requirements.
• Ensure all operational activities are completed and followed up correctly in accordance with SOP's and organisational policy.
• Help facilitate Imports and Exports of non-stock goods, completing and supplying documents and declarations.
• Liaise with HMRC and assist with maintenance on customs procedures.
• Implement and improve new efficiencies in client workflow in conjunction with line manager.
• Create and maintain written procedures.
• Complete CITES applications.
• Ensure all CITES trackers are completed accurately and constantly up to date.
• Arrange air bookings for CITES permits.
• Complete checks for all CITES permits, ensuring they have been issued correctly.
• Immediately report and record any amendments and issues with the CITES permits to the line manager
• Complete CITES Importer Notifications within the instructed time-period
• Complete all Import, Export, Transit,ICS and ENS declarations compliantly in line with regulations.

This role is within a freight forwarder and will include all the standard duties you would expect of a Customs Compliance Co-ordinator.

Experience

For the Customs Compliance Co-ordinator position we are looking for a candidate with freight knowledge. Experience within customs/trade compliance within a large business or brokerage firm, and an in depth understanding of UK & EU Customs regulations and documentation, you will have around 2-4 years experience in a similar position or Customs facing role. You will also have knowledge of control documentation such as IMPROT and EXPORT permits for CITES would be preferable
