Job summary

Elvet Recruitment is recruiting a Customer Services Multi-Trade Technician for an established housebuilder. You’ll perform varied remedial works across occupied and unoccupied properties, representing the business in customers’ homes with safety and quality at the forefront.

You’ll use skills across joinery, bricklaying, plastering, painting and decorating, tiling and general labour. Strong communication and a practical, independent approach are essential to success.

Qualifications

• Experience across joinery, bricklaying, plastering, painting and decorating, tiling and general trades.
• Able to read construction drawings and understand specifications.
• NVQ Level 2 or equivalent is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Carry out multi-trade remedial works across occupied and unoccupied properties.
• Undertake joinery, bricklaying, plaster patching, painting and decorating, tiling and general labouring.
• Complete basic M&E tasks within competence and safety guidelines.
• Read drawings/specifications and ensure safe, compliant work.
• Provide a courteous, customer-focused service in customers’ homes.
• Liaise with customers, provide updates and obtain satisfaction confirmations.
• Maintain company vehicle, monitor stock and record usage.

Elvet Recruitment is delighted to be working in partnership with an established housebuilding business to recruit a Customer Services Multi-Trade Technician to join their Customer Services team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled and customer-focused tradesperson to carry out a variety of remedial works across occupied and unoccupied properties. You'll be the face of the Customer Services function in the field, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard while providing a professional and courteous service to customers.

The successful candidate will be practical, resourceful and confident working across multiple trades, with strong communication skills and a genuine commitment to delivering an excellent customer experience.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Carry out multi-trade remedial works across occupied and unoccupied residential properties
• Undertake works including joinery, bricklaying, plaster patching, painting and decorating, tiling and general labouring
• Complete basic M&E tasks where appropriate and within your level of competence
• Read and understand relevant drawings, specifications and construction information
• Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with company procedures, health and safety requirements and relevant legislation
• Provide a professional, courteous and customer-focused service when working in occupied properties
• Liaise directly with customers, provide updates and obtain satisfaction/completion confirmation where possible
• Provide regular progress updates to the central Customer Services team
• Maintain the customer service vehicle, ensuring it is clean, tidy, appropriately stocked and compliant with health and safety requirements
• Monitor van stock and record material usage against individual properties
• Use your judgement to identify effective remedial solutions while considering cost and wider development implications
• Work closely with Customer Services Managers, Inspectors, site teams, sales teams, contractors and other internal and external stakeholders
• Maintain awareness of house types, product specifications and relevant construction standards
• Follow Customer Services processes and procedures and contribute feedback to improve remedial solutions and working practices

What We're Looking For:

• Previous experience in a multi-skilled construction, maintenance or housebuilding environment
• Strong practical knowledge across multiple trades, particularly joinery, bricklaying, plastering, painting and decorating and tiling
• Good understanding of construction techniques and residential building processes
• Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications
• Basic understanding of NHBC standards
• Strong health, safety and environmental awareness
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Confident and professional when dealing directly with customers
• Ability to remain calm and professional when dealing with challenging or dissatisfied customers
• Strong problem-solving skills and a practical, resourceful approach
• Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a wider team
• Good IT skills and confidence using computer-based systems
• Full UK driving licence
• Smart and professional appearance when representing the business
• Desirable: NVQ Level 2 or equivalent, First Aid, scaffold awareness and cherry picker / MEWP certification
