Job summary

John Lewis Partnership is hiring an Installation Specialist to join our Customer Delivery Hub team. You will be part of a two-person crew delivering and installing products at customers' homes, driving a 7.5-tonne vehicle and upholding the John Lewis service standard.

The role requires installation experience with an accredited programme, a valid Manual C1 licence, and tachograph/DCPC cards. Expect 41 hours over 4 days with two shift patterns and a starting salary of £32,149 per year.

Qualifications

• Previous installation experience is required and we provide installer accreditation
• Manual C1 UK driving licence with up to 6 points and Tachograph Card required
• DCPC or Driver Qualification Card required by day one
• Experience driving a 7.5-tonne vehicle
• Customer-facing experience and excellent verbal communication
• Good understanding of technology

About The Role

As one of our Installation Specialists based in one of our Customer Delivery Hubs, you'll have the unique opportunity of bringing our distinctive John Lewis service right to our customers' doors and install the products they love into their homes (such as furniture, kitchen appliances, sound systems and TV sets) as part of a 2-person delivery crew, driving a 7.5-tonne vehicle.

Due to its nature, you need to be 18 years or older to work in this role.

Schedule Pattern: 41 hours across 4 days per week, 5 week rota.

2 shift patterns available:

• 1 (AM Shift) - Monday-Saturday 06:00-17:00.
• 2 (PM Shift) - Monday-Friday 10:30-21:30, Saturday 07:00-18:00

Salary: Please note the expected starting rates for a Customer Delivery Hub, Driver Installer will £32,149 (Annual).

Key Responsibilities

Your day will see you start at the delivery hub where you are based before heading out on a route. Your responsibilities will include:

• Being an ambassador for the John Lewis brand with great customer service is your number one priority.
• Load up your lorry with the day's deliveries working alongside the warehouse team.
• Showing great respect and courtesy for the customer's home and handling unexpected situations to find the best possible solution for your customers.
• Installing products efficiently and quickly for our customers and demonstrating how they work once installed.
• Keeping up to date with new products and technologies to ensure you perform your role at your best.
• Maintaining a safe working environment

Please note this role involves heavy lifting: You will spend a lot of time delivering large items such as sofas, white goods, sports equipment, furniture, beds, and mattresses.

Essential skills/experience you'll need

Previous experience of installation is required for this role and we'll assist in topping up your knowledge with our very own installer accreditation. Other required skills and experience include:

• Manual C1 UK driving licence (with a maximum of 6 points)
• DCPC (Driver Certificate of Professional Competence) or Driver Qualification Card by the first day in the role.
• Tachograph Card.
• Previous experience driving a 7.5-tonne vehicle.
• Previous experience in a customer-facing role.
• Great verbal communication skills both over the phone and in person.
• Good understanding of technology.

Desirable skills/experience you can bring

• Installation and disconnection of white goods.
• TV installation.
• Assembly of a flat pack.
