Job summary

John Lewis Partnership is seeking a Customer Delivery Driver for Waitrose customers in the UK. You’ll bring quality produce and friendly service directly to customers’ doors, supporting shop tasks when not on the road.

We require a full UK manual driving licence with up to 6 points, good customer service, time management, and the ability to lift crates. The role is 22.5 hours per week across Friday to Sunday, with shifts between 07:00 and 22:00.

Qualifications

• Full valid UK manual driving licence (B-category) with no more than 6 points.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Good time management abilities.
• Ability to cope with physical tasks (lifting crates, moving cages).
• Able to work independently and stay motivated and adaptable.
• Basic IT literacy.

Responsibilities

• Check delivery routes for the day.
• Load and prepare the van for deliveries and ensure orders are grouped for direct-to-customer delivery.
• Carry out vehicle safety checks and maintain road compliance.
• Represent the John Lewis Partnership with strong customer service on the road.
• Help customers with shopping and build rapport based on trust and service.
• Support the wider shop team with general tasks when not out delivering.

About the role

As one of our Customer Delivery Drivers, you’ll be bringing the unique blend of quality Waitrose produce and Partner-led service right to our customers’ doors. Actively playing out our ethos - passionate Partners serving food lovers. When you're not out on the road, you'll be back at the shop supporting the team with daily tasks like stock replenishment and housekeeping. Contributing to the efficient and productive running of the shop in a friendly and welcoming team.

Due to its nature, you need to be 18-years or older to work in this role.

Key Responsibilities

• Checking your delivery routes for the day.
• Loading and preparing your van for deliveries, ensuring all orders are together and can be efficiently delivered directly to customers.
• Ensuring all of the appropriate vehicle safety checks are complete on your van, maintaining full road compliance, health and safety.
• Being an ambassador for the Waitrose brand while on the road with great customer service as your number one priority.
• Helping customers with their shopping and building a rapport with them based on trust and service.
• Supporting the wider shop team when required with general shopkeeping tasks.

Essential skills/experience you'll need

• Full valid B-Category UK manual driving licence with no more than 6-points.
• Great customer service skills.
• Time management skills.
• Able to cope with the physical requirements of the role (e.g. lifting of crates, moving cages).
• Comfortable working independently with the ability to be self motivated and adaptable.
• IT literate.

Desirable skills/experience you may have

• Previous experience in a driving role and a knowledge of chilled vehicles would be welcomed.

22.5 hours per week to be worked across Friday to Sunday. Varied hours of work between the hours of 07:00 and 22:00.
