Job summary

Tesco’s Customer Delivery Driver role puts you at the heart of the shopping experience, delivering groceries to customers in their homes with a smile. You’ll work independently most of the day, supported by a friendly team back at base when needed, and you’ll fit into a varied, hands-on schedule.

Starting pay is £14.18 per hour, rising to £15.45 in M25 stores, with a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours a week and options from 12 hours.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid UK/EU/EEA driving licence (full or automatic) for at least 12 months.
• No more than 3 penalty points on licence.
• Be warm and welcoming with customers and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Keep van, trays and work area clean, tidy and organised for each delivery.
• Load the van safely and complete checks to ensure roadworthiness.
• Explain order changes or substitutions to customers and offer refunds when needed.
• Handle products with care to maintain quality and trust.
• Deliver within the customer’s time slot with friendly doorstep service.

Customer Delivery Driver pay starts at £14.18 per hour, rising to £15.45 in stores within the M25. Some locations may offer additional payments. You will be responsible for

• Keeping your van, trays, and work area clean, tidy, and organised so every customer receives their shopping in perfect condition.


• Loading the van safely and completing all checks to ensure it’s roadworthy, reliable, and ready to deliver great service.


• Talking customers through any order changes, substitutions, or short dated items in a friendly, reassuring way, and offering refunds where needed to keep the experience smooth and positive.


• Handling products with care, treating every order as if it were your own to maintain quality and customer trust.


• Delivering within the customer’s time slot, providing warm, natural service at the doorstep and leaving customers feeling valued and well looked after.

You will need

• Build strong relationships with colleagues to create great team spirit and deliver the best service for customers.


• Be warm and welcoming with customers and colleagues.


• Respond quickly to changing customer needs and embrace change while out on the road and in the store.


• Hold a valid UK/EU/EEA driving licence (full or automatic) for at least 12 months, with no more than 3 penalty points.
