Job summary

PHL Group in Warwickshire is seeking a Forensic Healthcare Professional to join the custody team in Leamington Spa. You will assess and treat detainees in police custody, conducting forensic medical examinations and gathering evidence for the criminal justice system.

The role requires clinical assessments, intervention planning, and maintaining detailed records to safeguard health, safety and welfare. Full-time, 42 hours per week including nights, based in Leamington Spa.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse or Paramedic with minimum 3 years’ service.
• Full membership of the NMC or HCPC.
• Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
• Competent in oral and written English.
• Have been continuously resident in the UK for at least 3 years.
• Right to Work in the UK.
• Ability to be cleared through the Police Vetting system: Level 2 NPPV clearance.
• A DBS check is required for this post.

Responsibilities

• Deliver forensic practitioner services in compliance with the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 and local protocols.
• Maintain accurate and complete timely documentation, including injury record and log all activities using current systems.
• Advise and support custody officers in assessing detainees’ healthcare needs and prioritising care, consulting the Forensic Medical Examiner as needed.
• Assess detainees’ fitness for detention, interview, understanding of charges and release.
• Evaluate alcohol and drug intoxication and withdrawal.
