Job description

We currently have an exciting opportunity for Curriculum Leader Religious Education and Character, Culture and Community (PSHE/SRE)to join our fantastic team at MEA Central

This is a permanent position on Teaching terms MPS-UPS plus TLR 2.3/2C allowance of £8,279

We’re looking for:

A qualified and experienced Teacher eligible to work in the UK ready to take on additional responsibility and drive improvements across the curriculum. You will need to be an excellent classroom practitioner consistently delivering Good/Outstanding lessons. You will also need to demonstrate thorough Religious Education and Character, Culture and Community subject knowledge and an understanding of current curriculum developments.

Main purpose of the job:

This is a middle management post. In addition to those professional responsibilities which are common to all classroom teachers in the school, the post holder’s key responsibilities will be to provide professional leadership and management and develop excellence in pedagogy to ensure accelerated progress for all students in your subject area.

You will take a lead role in the development of effective teaching and learning strategies in the curriculum area in line with school and national policy, to ensure that students experience an educational programme that is personalised to their particular needs.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • To lead and manage the work of members of the curriculum team together with any assigned technical or support staff
  • To provide an effective role model in terms of own classroom practice and keeping abreast of national developments in the teaching of the subject
  • To ensure that the aims and objectives of the Department are the subject of regular review and consultation
  • To ensure appropriate policies are in place and are adhered to across the curriculum area
  • To manage the finance and resources ensuring effective curricular resource management & deployment to maximise student achievement and attainment
  • Full line management of the curriculum team, including recruitment, probationary period management, performance management, absence management and staff development
