Job summary

The Stark Group, via Stark Connect, is seeking a proficient metering technician to install, commission and test LV and CT metering equipment across the UK. You will work on complex metering tasks to meet time, cost and quality targets and support the team with technical guidance.

Applicants should hold City & Guilds level qualifications, Comcop and DNO authorisations where applicable, and be prepared to travel for site work. Strong IT skills and a clean driving licence are essential.

Qualifications

  • Proven customer service and technical problem solving skills.
  • Experience with metering installations and LV metering systems is preferred.
  • Knowledge of IEE wiring regulations is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, remove and replace metering equipment.
  • Commission all types of metering equipment.
  • Test and verify LV metering equipment.
  • Operate the LV system for associated metering activities.
  • Undertake complex tests and inspections on installations.
  • Undertake remote testing of metering equipment.
  • Investigate high consumption complaints and resolve queries with customers.
  • Organise people and co-ordinate resources and supplies.
  • Coach and guide other staff including instructions to colleagues in completing tasks.
  • Plan and schedule work and make quotations on site to customers.

Job description

This role is an integral part of the Stark Connect team. The main purpose is to carry out metering tasks including those of a complex technical nature to time, cost and quality targets to satisfy business and customer service requirements and provide technical support to the team.,

  • Install, maintain, remove and replace all types of metering equipment.
  • Commission all types of metering equipment.
  • Test and verify all LV metering equipment.
  • Operate the LV system for associated metering activities in accordance with procedures.
  • Undertake complex tests and inspections on installations.
  • Undertake remote testing of metering equipment
  • Investigate high consumption complaints and resolve queries with customers.
  • Investigate dangerous occurrences and resolve customer problems.
  • Work on non-standard and other Distribution Business' equipment.
  • Carry out work on installations.
  • Check and inspect work undertaken by the team for quality and safety standards.
  • Organise people and co-ordinate resources and supplies.
  • Coach and guide other staff including instructions to colleagues in completing tasks.
  • Plan and schedule work and make quotations on site to customers.
  • Provide technical explanation to the team and customers. The successful candidate will be authorised to install single and three phase metering installations and ideally have CT metering experience. They will provide excellent customer service, work to time, cost and quality targets and have good IT skills, as well as a clean driving license.
  • Trained, authorised and experienced in single and three phase meter installation and LVCT metering.
  • Hold relevant Comcop authorisations.
  • Hold DNO metering authorisations where applicable.
  • Experience in Half Hourly, AMR and SMETS metering would be advantage
  • Prepared to travel and work away from home on occasions
  • City & Guilds full certificate (232 level or appropriate NVQ)
  • IEE wiring regulations knowledge
