Job description

Location: Northwood, United Kingdom

Period: 1200 (start on 15 Jun 2025)

Deadline: 27 May 2025

Duties/Roles:

1. Assist the Core Section Head with developing technical solutions for maritime afloat tasks, troubleshooting SOPs, and system hardware upgrades.
2. Plan and coordinate ship surveys prior to scheduled CIS installation.
3. Support System Administration (HW and SW) of assigned systems.
4. Maintain and update technical and service documentation related to systems, interconnections, and cabling.
5. Report Configuration Control data to the Core Section Head promptly.
6. Provide remote support for Flagship handovers involving nations in the Standing Naval Forces.
7. Collaborate closely with technicians and engineers within the CSU and NCI Agency.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience Required:

Mandatory:

• Experience with VMware Virtualisation technology.
• Knowledge of SAN technology.
• Experience with Windows workstation imaging techniques.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Server Technologies, including Active Directory and Microsoft Exchange.
• Understanding of Application Server technologies.
• Familiarity with the ITIL IT service management framework.
• Experience with Incident and Problem Management processes.
• Ability to produce technical documentation and user guides.
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with a logical and methodical approach.
