Job description

Location: Northwood, United Kingdom

Period: 1200 (start on 15 Jun. 2025)

Deadline: 27 May 2025

Duties/Roles:

1. Assist the Core Section Head with developing technical solutions for maritime afloat tasks, troubleshooting SOPs, and system hardware upgrades.
2. Support planning and coordination of ship surveys prior to scheduled CIS installation.
3. Assist with System Administration (HW and SW) of assigned systems.
4. Maintain all technical and service documentation related to systems, interconnections, and cabling, ensuring it is current and properly stored.
5. Report Configuration Control data to the Core Section Head promptly.
6. Provide remote support during Flagship handovers for nations involved in the Standing Naval Forces (SNF).
7. Coordinate closely with technicians and engineers within the CSU and the wider NCI Agency.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience Required:

Mandatory:

• Experience with VMware Virtualisation technology
• Knowledge of SAN technology
• Experience with Windows workstation imaging techniques
• Knowledge of Microsoft Server Technologies, including Active Directory and Microsoft Exchange
• Experience with Application Server technologies
• Understanding of the ITIL IT service management framework
• Experience with Incident and Problem Management processes
• Ability to write technical documentation and user guides
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Strong problem-solving skills using rigorous logic and methods, with the ability to identify hidden issues and think beyond the obvious
