Job description

We’re looking for a Sterile Services Technician to join our CSSD team based at The Lister Hospital. Above all else, we’re committed to the care and improvement of human life. This guiding vision influences everything we do at HCA UK. From the CEO to frontline colleagues, everyone plays a part in delivering exceptional patient care. While some may see this as just a CSSD role, to us, you’ll be part of a wider team with a meaningful purpose—helping to improve lives daily.

What you’ll do:
  1. Receive used medical devices in the decontamination area from all service users.
  2. Perform basic testing of equipment.
  3. Ensure all tools in the Decontamination area are functioning correctly and report faulty equipment.
  4. Maintain adequate supplies of cleaning equipment and detergents in washer disinfector machines.
  5. Understand the inspection, assembly, and processing of reusable medical devices.
  6. Assist in ensuring sufficient sterile supplies are available.
  7. Store sterile/decontaminated articles properly.
  8. Maintain accurate records, file documents correctly, and provide information as required.
What you’ll bring:
  • Experience working in a sterile services department.
  • Knowledge of hospital policies and procedures, either within the NHS or private hospitals.
  • Health and Safety training, including Lifting and Handling.
  • A team player with excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to identify and report equipment faults.
