Job summary

Colchester United Football Club is seeking a Match Day & Event Steward to assist the management team with crowd control and safety before, during, and after events at the JobServe Community Stadium.

With NVQ Level 2 spectator safety and good communication, you will help direct spectators, monitor for hazards, operate firefighting and first aid gear, and respond to emergencies under the Safety Officer.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 spectator safety required.

Responsibilities

• Attend pre and post-match briefings and sign in for duties.
• Operate firefighting equipment and locate first aid facilities.
• Recognise emergencies and alert the control room as trained.
• Identify incidents among spectators and report findings to Control room.
• Monitor crowd for distress or overcrowding and follow standing instructions.
• Prevent overcrowding by managing crowd flow and barriers.
• Staff parking areas to keep exits clear and gates accessible.
• Assist in diverting spectators and closing turnstiles when areas reach capacity.
• Remain at allocated posts unless directed otherwise by supervision or police.
• Assist in evacuation of the ground and prevention of pitch invasion.
• Support in identifying banned or ticketless spectators and breaches of ground regulations.
