Job summary

ASTRAZENECA UK LIMITED in Macclesfield is seeking a Utilities Technical Operator to keep critical utilities and engineering systems running safely and efficiently. You will support maintenance activities, respond to operational challenges and help improve how the site operates.

Work alongside engineering, QA and site teams to ensure compliance, accurate record-keeping and timely execution of safety and regulatory tasks, with focus on systems such as compressed air, steam, water, and electrical

Qualifications

• Experience or knowledge of utilities, plant or engineering operations.
• Knowledge of safety, environmental and GxP requirements.
• Ability to observe procedures and keep accurate records.
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Clear written and verbal communication.
• Ability to coordinate priorities and meet timelines.
• Ability to work independently and with others.
• Proactive problem-solving approach.
• Good English-language skills.
• Secondary-level education as a minimum.

Responsibilities

• Operate, supervise and carry out basic maintenance on utilities equipment and systems.
• Complete planned maintenance, compliance testing and safety checks.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns and help restore services promptly.
• Identify and communicate equipment, performance or compliance concerns.
• Maintain accurate equipment documentation and handle SAP notifications.
• Raise Quality Notifications when required.
• Issue and follow Safe Systems of Work for colleagues and contractors.
• Collect and record engineering data to support equipment performance.
• Use continuous improvement tools to identify trends and reduce recurring issues.
• Contribute to engineering improvement projects and safety initiatives.
• Maintain information relating to Bills of Materials and critical spares.
• Support and mentor less-experienced colleagues and new starters.
• Complete required Safety, Health and Environment and Good Manufacturing Practice training.
