Job description

Critical Services Shift Technician – Canary Wharf – £47,000 – £48,000

Calling all immediately available engineers. Huge opportunity to work for a top company conducting a multi-million pound refurbishment of a prestigious banking building in Canary Wharf.

The company is looking for individuals who can start as soon as possible on an initial fixed-term contract with a high likelihood of extension. There is also a strong possibility of internal transfer, providing a great foot in the door with a leading engineering firm.

Responsibilities include:

  • Operating as part of the project integration team supporting a 24/7 refurbishment project.
  • Managing fire system isolations and impairments.
  • Supporting safe system operations, managing isolations, and coordinating trade contractors during work activities.
  • Liaising with on-site teams to plan and execute works coherently and safely.
  • Monitoring systems for full operational status, witnessing re-commissioning, snagging, and handover processes.
  • Overseeing QHSE compliance during tasks.
  • Ensuring project works do not impact normal operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring project activities comply with health and safety policies.
  • Attending project meetings.
  • Monitoring installation and removal of systems.
  • Providing data and information support to the client.
  • Using safe systems of work for all activities.
  • Reviewing risk assessments and method statements for activities in sensitive areas.
  • Advising the client on issues affecting works.
  • Aligning project and business-as-usual activities.
  • Producing reports as needed.
  • Reporting issues to the technical manager.
  • Following contract and site rules, escalating issues when necessary.
  • Providing escort services in technical and non-technical areas when required.

Accountabilities:

  • Working within operational guidelines.
  • Maintaining effective relationships with clients and users.
  • Delivering health and safety standards.
  • Applying technical skills across activities.
  • Optimizing performance.

Experience required:

  • Managing critical environments and life safety infrastructure.
  • Technical competence in building services such as UPS, transfer switches, PLC systems, critical cooling, water treatment, refrigeration, and electrical infrastructure.
  • Understanding health and safety obligations related to maintenance and projects.
