Job description

Join to apply for the Critical Care - Audit Nurse role at Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

We are looking to employ an enthusiastic Audit Nurse for Critical Care.

The post holder will be responsible for the collection, collation, and evaluation of data pertaining to patients admitted to critical care within the Trust. Undertaking analysis, report writing, and presentation of data to clinicians, managers, and any other stakeholders as required.

You will be able to utilise a variety of strategies to liaise effectively in order to share ideas, information, and give feedback on data collated in order to empower members of the healthcare team to ensure continuity and high standards of care. You will promote clinical audit culture within the Critical Care and facilitate Governance and Academic meetings.

You must be able to work without close supervision and be able to prioritise your own workload whilst ensuring excellent attention to detail. Previous experience of research and audit are desirable.

Responsibilities
  • To ensure timely accomplishment of unit specific audits and dissemination of this information to the wider team including accurate recording of action plans.
  • To support research initiatives by being able to extrapolate beneficial data to be used for research purposes.
  • To analyse, prepare and present timely reports to the Intensive Care National Audit and Research Centre (ICNARC), ITU Lead nurse, local clinicians, and trust management.
  • To prepare, validate data and submit reports pertaining to the Critical Care Minimum Data Set for finance and the Primary Care Trusts in relation to Payment by Results.
  • Perform accurate and complete data collection, analyse and prepare mandatory and ad hoc reports, involving complex data, for the Intensive Care Unit, Trust staff as well as various NHS agencies in a timely and professional manner. Disseminate and utilise ICNARC quarterly data analysis reports.
  • The post holder must at all times, respect patient's confidentiality and the confidentiality of electronically stored personal data in line with the requirements of the Data Protection Act (1998), the Caldecott principles, and the common duty law of confidentiality.
  • The post holder must have proficient IT skills and proven experience of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Medicus. Must be able to adapt to the unit’s established method of data collection.
