Job summary

Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking a dedicated Family Support Worker to join the Engage Team, delivering intensive crisis-focused support to children, young people and families. You will work alongside Social Workers and partner agencies to help families build on their strengths and achieve positive outcomes for their children.

This role requires experience with children and safeguarding, excellent communication, and a resilient, solution-focused approach, with flexible hours

Qualifications

• Experience working with children, young people and families.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection practices.
• A compassionate, resilient and solution-focused approach.
• Ability to work flexibly, including some evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Deliver direct support to children and families experiencing crisis.
• Build trusted relationships and help families identify and achieve their goals.
• Complete home visits and practical interventions.
• Work closely with Social Workers and partner agencies.
• Support safeguarding plans and promote children's safety and wellbeing.
• Help families access community resources and strengthen support networks.
