Job summary

East London Cemetery and Crematorium is seeking a dedicated Groundsperson to maintain our crematorium grounds and memorial areas to high standards. You will join a team dedicated to providing a serene, respectful environment for visiting families.

The role involves seasonal gardening, path maintenance, and assisting with memorial enquiries, all while adhering to health and safety policies. A driving license is desirable.

Qualifications

• Experience in groundskeeping, horticulture, or outdoor maintenance.
• Physically fit and able to work outdoors in all weather.
• Pride in maintaining a clean, well-presented environment.
• Good teamwork and communication.
• Desirable driving license.

Responsibilities

• Carry out seasonal gardening and landscaping, including mowing, weeding, pruning, planting, and hedge cutting.
• Maintain the cleanliness and safety of paths, lawns, memorial plots, and landscaped areas.
• Conduct routine checks and light maintenance of grounds equipment.
• Support with leaf clearance, snow and ice control, and seasonal planting displays.
• Maintain memorial areas with care and attention to detail.
• Assist families with basic memorial enquiries when required.
• Work collaboratively with the site team, supporting other duties when needed.
• Follow health and safety policies, ensuring a safe working environment.
