iwoca is hiring a Data Scientist for Credit Risk Modelling in a hybrid role based in London or remote in the UK. You will work with lending data to answer credit risk questions and build models that drive pricing and portfolio strategy.

You will keep models accurate, prototype new ideas, and collaborate with ~12 data scientists to scale automated and human‑in‑the‑loop decisions, with growth in R&D share.

Qualifications

• Background in statistics from a quantitative field with real‑world data experience.
• Ability to quantify uncertainty and treat calibration as a first‑order concern.
• Experience testing new modelling ideas and judging which to pursue.
• Strong decision making, defending reasoning under challenge.
• Ownership of ambiguous problems from framing to business action.
• Experience applying AI to prototype, automate, or build modelling pipelines.
• Clear and concise written and spoken communication adapted to audiences.

Responsibilities

• Use iwoca's lending data to answer credit risk and CLtV questions and integrate findings into production models.
• Maintain model accuracy as market conditions change and implement incremental improvements.
• Pursue research that could replace existing models and propose project ideas.
• Collaborate with senior data scientists and influence project prioritisation.
• Prototype and test ideas leveraging AI to accelerate delivery.
