This is an exciting leadership opportunity within the Vehicle Hire and Damage team at a nationally recognised law firm. The successful candidate will be based in Birmingham and work alongside Team Partners and Operations Managers to oversee and develop a high-performing team that services over 40 insurance companies and self-insured corporates. This role is key to driving operational excellence and client satisfaction across our defendant credit hire offering.

Summary

Title: Team Manager – Vehicle Hire and Damage

Location: Birmingham

Salary: to £60,000

Previous Experience: Litigation and people management experience essential. Ideal for candidates with previous supervision responsibility looking to step into a broader leadership role.

About You

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in managing teams, ideally within a legal or insurance-litigation context. You should be confident in dealing with credit hire litigation across all tracks and possess a deep understanding of operational drivers such as performance management, compliance, and client service.

Leadership and Operational Responsibilities

The role centres on people management and operational delivery:

• Direct line management of Supervisors, including performance reviews and absence management.
• Managing onboarding and induction processes for new Supervisors.
• Motivating the team and cultivating a positive and performance-driven culture.

Performance and Financial Management

You will play a critical role in the ongoing financial success of the department:

• Driving team performance to meet or exceed internal and external KPIs and SLAs.
• Monitoring financial metrics including billing, WIP, unbilled disbursements and debt.
• Ensuring Supervisors support their teams effectively in billing and compliance.
• Conducting MI reviews, audits and analysis to identify areas for improvement.
