The opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated Credit Controller to join our Accounts department. Reporting directly to the Head of Finance, this role is pivotal in managing and improving the company's cash flow. As part of a strategic and commercially aware finance function, you will work cross-functionally with Customer Services, Operations, and Sales to ensure a smooth credit control process that enhances client relationships and supports overall business objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full credit control process: Oversee all outstanding debts across a diverse portfolio of customers, from individuals to large corporate accounts.
• Strategically reduce debtor days (DSO): Improve working capital by proactively chasing payments, resolving account queries, and fostering strong client partnerships.
• Payment processing: Administer and monitor customer payments via purchase orders, Direct Debit, and credit card transactions.
• Conduct credit checks and analysis: Evaluate customer creditworthiness to mitigate financial risk while supporting sales opportunities.
• Legal and compliance: Prepare litigation files when necessary, including submitting court claims and updating relevant financial and CRM systems.
• Financial analysis and reporting: Investigate and reconcile customer billing discrepancies, and produce timely reports and KPIs to inform strategic decision-making.
• Business intelligence: Support the preparation of daily, weekly, and monthly MI reports, providing insights to assist in business development and financial planning.
