Job summary

MRL Consulting Group Ltd. is seeking an experienced Lighting Design Engineer to join our client in the lighting sector.

You will deliver creative, compliant lighting designs and work with customers, consultants and contractors. Responsibilities include managing multiple design projects from concept to completion, producing layouts, calculations, luminaire schedules and technical documentation, and ensuring compliance with UK standards (BS, CIBSE, Part L).

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of experience in lighting design

Responsibilities

• Deliver creative, compliant and commercially viable lighting designs.
• Produce lighting layouts, calculations, specifications, luminaire schedules and technical documentation.
• Review project specifications, architectural and MEP drawings and design briefs.
• Support specification-led projects, tenders and design development.
• Respond to customer and consultant technical queries.
• Work with Sales, Specification, Technical and Quotation teams.
• Ensure designs comply with UK standards (BS, CIBSE and Part L).
• Select luminaires, controls and emergency lighting solutions.
• Provide alternatives considering cost, compliance and performance.
• Identify design risks, gaps and cost implications.
• Support continuous improvement and guide junior designers.
