Job summary

FuturLab, the award-winning game studio behind PowerWash Simulator, is seeking a Game Designer to join our Brighton team. You will contribute across concept development, level design, balancing, UI/UX, and gameplay pacing, collaborating with artists, programmers and producers to deliver polished experiences.

This role emphasizes iteration, feedback, and a passion for unorthodox gameplay ideas. Experience on at least one commercial game and proficiency with Unity are desirable.

Qualifications

• Experience in game design for at least one commercial project.
• Strong understanding of game design principles and balancing.
• Ability to iterate and incorporate feedback from multiple disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Write clear and concise game design documents.
• Participate in brainstorming, prototyping, tuning, pacing and balancing.
• Iterate on content and provide feedback to ensure best player experience.
• Analyze existing content and mechanics and improve towards project goals.
• Research and design new game content and features.
• Ensure games are engaging and fun.
• Over a year employed as a game designer on at least one commercial game.
• Understand and apply the Unity game engine.
• Able to pursue creative ideas without being precious.
• Seek feedback and criticism from any source.
• Iterate content multiple times to improve features.
• Debate the virtues of game features constructively.
• General understanding of game design and development.
• Ability to work independently and in small teams.
• Excellent communication with a friendly, positive demeanour.
