Job summary

White Rose Education is seeking a Creative Design Lead to shape the visual standard for our teaching resources. You will own templates, layouts and artwork for print and digital resources, and produce much of the work yourself.

There is potential to lead other designers as the department grows, with cross-site collaboration between Halifax and Leeds. You will be hands-on, building design systems and ensuring consistency, accuracy and accessibility across materials, while maintaining a fixed

Qualifications

• Senior design experience in publishing or high-volume template-driven environments.
• Experience delivering to fixed publication dates.
• Portfolio showing template and system work produced from.
• Educational publishing, accessibility standards, digital design or illustration skills are a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Design and lay out schemes of learning, workbooks and digital resources.
• Build and maintain master templates, grids, type styles and asset library.
• Own print-ready artwork and pre-press processes including colour and proofing.
• Make design serve learning with clear hierarchy and accessible typography.
• Brief and art direct freelance illustrators and designers.
• Collaborate with editors and subject specialists to a publishing calendar.
