Job Description

Our client is a well-established Mechanical Handling and Lifting Equipment company that operates heavily in the Defence, Oil & Gas, Nuclear, and Heavy Engineering sectors.

The main purpose of this role is to provide technical/engineering knowledge and support, including inspection and technical assistance in the installation, analysis, repair, and review of cranes, lifting equipment, and mechanical handling systems. The goal is to meet customer requirements while complying with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.

Main duties:
  1. Undertake certification of lifting equipment to ensure compliance with current legal standards and provide accurate reports.
  2. Repair, install, and refurbish lifting equipment.
  3. Represent the company professionally at client locations to enhance reputation.
  4. Perform work safely, adhering to all relevant HSEQ procedures, processes, and standards.
  5. Act as a coach and mentor to less experienced team members.
  6. Conduct assessments for lifting and handling equipment according to relevant design codes and regulations.
  7. Assess regulatory and code compliance for equipment designed by third parties.
  8. Perform critical structure and equipment assessments based on manufacturer guidance and legislative requirements.
  9. Assist with third-party inspections, maintenance, installation, and repair of equipment in manufacturing and construction.
  10. Interpret and advise on design aspects related to LOLER, cranes, and mechanical handling systems.
  11. Provide accurate and timely written reports of work undertaken.
  12. Conduct technical onsite audits as required.
  13. Perform new crane installations.
  14. Collaborate within the Group Services department on assessments, repairs, and refurbishments of mechanical handling equipment.
  15. Participate in the 'On Call Rota', currently one week in three, with flexibility to cover colleagues’ holidays. The position includes a company vehicle and is suitable for candidates within an hour's commute of Portsmouth.
