Job summary

ALECTO RECRUITMENT LTD is seeking a Mobile Crane Engineer – Midlands (Field‑Based) to service, inspect and repair mobile cranes and lifting equipment across customer sites. You will diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults and complete statutory LOLER inspections, with a field-based van provided.

The role is Monday–Friday, strong training and development on offer, and a clear path for long-term, quality field work with a reputable customer base in the Midlands.

Qualifications

• Strong background in crane engineering, heavy plant or lifting equipment.
• Solid understanding of hydraulics, electrics, motors and controls.
• Ability to fault-find under pressure and work safely.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Servicing, inspecting and repairing mobile cranes, overhead cranes and lifting equipment.
• Diagnosing mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults.
• Carrying out LOLER inspections to ensure safety standards.
• Responding to breakdowns and completing repairs promptly.
• Completing job sheets, reports and documentation accurately.
• Working independently across customer sites with a field-based van.
• Representing the brand professionally and maintaining customer relationships.

Salary: GBP45000 - GBP45000 per annum + Van and Fuel Card

Mobile Crane Engineer – Midlands (Field‑Based)

If you’re an experienced engineer who enjoys getting stuck into mechanical, electrical and hydraulic fault‑finding, this mobile crane role will suit you down to the ground. You’ll be out on the road supporting customers, carrying out inspections, servicing, repairs and breakdown work on a range of lifting equipment.

This is a solid, long‑term position with proper support, proper kit, and the freedom to manage your own day.

What You’ll Be Doing

Servicing, inspecting and repairing mobile cranes, overhead cranes and lifting equipment

Diagnosing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and control system faults

Carrying out LOLER inspections and ensuring equipment meets safety standards

Responding to breakdowns and completing repairs efficiently

Completing all job sheets, reports and documentation accurately

Working independently across customer sites with a field‑based van

Representing the brand professionally and maintaining strong customer relationships

What You Need

Strong background in crane engineering, heavy plant, lifting equipment, or similar mechanical/electrical maintenance

Solid understanding of hydraulics, electrics, motors, controls and lifting systems

Ability to fault‑find under pressure and work safely

Full UK driving licence

Comfortable working at height when required
