Job summary

Civic Recruitment Limited is seeking a Traffic Engineer in London to support the Traffic & Road Safety team. You will design CPZs and on-street parking schemes, respond to residents and stakeholders, and assist in delivering highway and parking solutions across the borough.

The role emphasises independent work in a small team, requires a Civil/Highway/Transport Engineering qualification, and familiarity with AutoCAD/ParkMap is highly desirable. A flexible hybrid arrangement is available.

Qualifications

• Experience designing CPZs and parking management schemes.
• Experience in traffic engineering, transport planning, highways, or road safety.
• Experience applying Traffic Signs Regulations and relevant legislation.
• Experience preparing traffic orders, consultation plans and technical drawings.
• Experience managing project records, budgets, invoices and expenditure.
• Experience responding to public and stakeholder enquiries.
• London borough experience is essential.
• Able to work independently in a small team.
• AutoCAD and/or ParkMap experience is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop CPZs and on-street parking schemes.
• Respond to traffic and parking-related enquiries from residents and stakeholders.
• Support the Senior Engineer in delivering traffic engineering projects.
• Produce letters, emails, reports and technical documentation.
• Document decisions and provide audit trails.
• Assess needs for renewing/replacing traffic signs and road markings.
• Arrange and monitor works through council processes.
• Maintain records of orders, invoices, budgets and project costs.
• Assist with budget forecasting.
• Prepare consultation drawings and traffic order documentation.
• Liaise with contractors, officers, residents and elected Members.
• Support projects from design through to implementation.
