Job summary

ROSE & YOUNG RECRUITMENT LTD is seeking a Part-Time Payroll Officer/Specialist (CPP qualified) to join the Finance/Payroll team in Coventry. The role is on-site for 3 days per week, with a pro-rated salary of £30,000–£32,000 per annum.

You will manage end-to-end payroll, ensure compliance, and handle various staff categories within an educational environment, delivering accurate and timely payroll services.

Qualifications

• CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) qualification is essential.
• Proven experience managing payroll end-to-end.
• Experience in education sector payroll is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, taxation, pensions and statutory requirements.
• High accuracy and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end payroll processes accurately and efficiently.
• Process monthly/biweekly payroll for teaching, administrative and support staff.
• Review and validate payroll data including starters, leavers, salary changes and amendments.
• Ensure deadlines for payroll calculations are met.
• Administer pensions, benefits, statutory deductions and garnishments.
• Maintain confidential employee payroll records.
• Reconcile payroll reports and resolve discrepancies.
• Prepare payroll reports for Finance and senior management.
• Ensure compliance with payroll legislation and organisational policies.
• Respond to employee payroll queries professionally and promptly.
• Collaborate with HR and Finance to keep records up to date.
• Support payroll audits and ensure strong controls.
• Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and systems.
