Job summary

Rose & Young Recruitment Limited seeks a Payroll Officer (CPP) to join the Finance team in Coventry. You will administer payroll for teaching, administrative and support staff, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality and timely delivery, with a strong focus on education sector requirements.

The role requires CPP qualification, experience in payroll end-to-end, and a solid knowledge of payroll legislation, pensions, and tax.

Qualifications

• CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) qualification required.
• Proven experience in payroll, ideally end-to-end.
• Experience in the education sector preferred.
• Strong understanding of payroll legislation, taxation, pensions and statutory requirements.
• High level of accuracy, confidentiality and data handling.
• Proficiency with payroll and HR systems and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end payroll processes accurately and efficiently.
• Process monthly/biweekly payroll for teaching, administrative and support staff.
• Review and validate payroll data including new starters, leavers and salary changes.
• Ensure payroll calculations are accurate and completed within deadlines.
• Administer pensions, benefits, deductions and related adjustments.
• Maintain accurate and confidential employee payroll records.
• Reconcile payroll reports and investigate discrepancies.
• Prepare payroll reports for Finance and senior management.
• Ensure compliance with payroll legislation, tax requirements and pension regulations.
• Respond promptly to employee payroll queries.
• Work with HR and Finance to keep records up to date.
• Support internal and external payroll audits and process improvements.
