Job summary

Honley High School, advertised by Kirklees Council, is seeking a committed Cover Supervisor to support learning during short-term teacher absences. You will deliver planned lessons, manage class behaviour and assist students to stay on task in a busy secondary school environment.

We are looking for applicants with classroom experience in secondary education, good ICT skills, and the energy and resilience to contribute to creating a safe, vibrant and positive learning atmosphere for our students.

Responsibilities

• Supervising whole classes during the short-term absence of their teacher; deliver the planned lesson, respond to questions, assist students and maintain order.
• Support teaching staff with general administration under the direction of the Cover Manager.
• Support individuals and groups of students to enable access to learning, including those requiring detailed and specialist knowledge in particular areas.

What the role involves in a nutshell:

• Supervising whole classes during the short-term absence of their teacher. The focus of such cover will be to deliver the lesson their teacher had planned, respond to questions, assist students to undertake the activities and stay on task and maintain order.
• Support teaching staff with general administration under the direction of the Cover Manager.
• Supporting individuals and groups of students to enable access to learning. This could include those requiring detailed and specialist knowledge in particular areas.
