Job summary

The Arthur Terry School in Sutton Coldfield is seeking a Cover Supervisor to take classes when a usual teacher is absent. The role focuses on keeping students on the set tasks, maintaining calm classroom management and encouraging independent learning.

You will feed back on engagement and progress to teaching and pastoral staff, following lesson plans and school policies. Visa sponsorship is not available and the post can start as soon as possible.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with young people in an educational or similar setting.

Responsibilities

• Supervise classes when the usual teacher is absent and ensure students complete the set work.
• Create a positive, calm and purposeful learning environment.
• Give clear instructions and support so students can learn independently.
• Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policy and expectations.
• Monitor student engagement and progress and report to teaching staff where appropriate.
• Work with teachers, pastoral staff and colleagues to support student achievement and wellbeing.
