Job summary

Elms Bank School invites applications for a Cover Supervisor to support learning during teacher absences. You’ll deliver prepared lessons, adapt activities, and assist pupils with diverse needs, promoting independence and engagement in class.

You will work alongside Teaching Assistants in a supportive environment, providing feedback, monitoring progress, and contributing to planning while maintaining a positive classroom atmosphere.

Cover Supervisor Job Summary

We are seeking a committed and adaptable professional to join our team in a Cover Supervisor role, supporting classes in the absence of the lead teacher. This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with Teaching Assistants and make a real difference to pupils with complex learning needs.

About the Role

You will lead classes during planned and unplanned teacher absences, delivering pre-prepared lessons or creating engaging learning activities where needed. You will support pupils with diverse and severe learning needs, promoting independence, positive behaviour, and active participation in learning.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver and adapt lessons for individuals, small groups, and whole classes
• Support pupils with complex needs, using specialist strategies and interventions
• Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and wider professionals
• Monitor progress, provide feedback, and contribute to planning
• Maintain a positive, structured learning environment
• Support behaviour management using Team Teach strategies
• Contribute to wider school activities, including trips, meetings, and extended provision
