Job summary

Supply Desk Ltd is recruiting a Cover Supervisor for a welcoming school in Walthamstow. Are you a confident, adaptable individual looking to gain valuable experience within a secondary school setting? Supply Desk is recruiting on behalf of a supportive and well-established school in Walthamstow, seeking a dedicated Cover Supervisor to join their team.

As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff, ensuring students remain engaged with pre-planned work and maintaining a positive and productive learning environment.

  • Supervise whole classes during teacher absences, ensuring students remain focused and on task.
  • Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials and instructions provided by teaching staff.
  • Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies and expectations.
  • Provide support and guidance to students where appropriate to facilitate learning.
  • Report back to teaching staff regarding lesson outcomes, student progress, and behaviour.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and respectful learning environment.
  • Ensure students follow school expectations and complete the work provided.
  • Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Confidence in managing groups of students and maintaining classroom discipline.
  • The ability to remain calm, organised, and adaptable in a busy school environment.
  • A positive and professional approach to working with young people.
  • A genuine interest in education and supporting students to succeed.
