Job summary

EduTalent Group is recruiting a Cover Supervisor for a specialist SEN school in Royal Tunbridge Wells, supporting pupils aged 11–19. You will provide classroom cover in the absence of teaching staff and help keep learners engaged with their learning throughout the school day.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people is desirable.
  • Confidence supervising groups of secondary students.

Responsibilities

We are currently recruiting for a Cover Supervisor to join a specialist SEN school in the Tunbridge Wells area, supporting young people aged 11–19.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young people and is confident managing a classroom environment. You will provide classroom cover in the absence of teaching staff, ensuring students remain engaged with their learning and receive the support they need throughout the school day.

The school supports pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism and Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN).

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise classes during teacher absence and ensure work set by teaching staff is completed.
  • Provide clear instructions and help students remain engaged and focused.
  • Support pupils with a range of SEN and additional learning needs.
  • Promote positive behavior and maintain a calm, structured classroom environment.

About You

We would be interested in hearing from candidates with experience in areas such as:

  • Cover supervision or classroom support
  • Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant work
  • SEN or specialist education
  • Youth work or mentoring
  • Residential or care settings supporting young people
  • Sports coaching or other roles involving responsibility for groups of young people

Previous experience within an identical SEN school setting is not essential. Candidates with strong transferable experience and the confidence to work with young people with additional needs are encouraged to apply.

You should be patient, resilient and confident establishing appropriate boundaries while developing positive relationships with students.
