Job summary

Brighter Futures Educational Trust is seeking a Cover Supervisor (HLTA) to support learning across SEMH provision. You will supervise lessons, cover for absent teachers and help pupils feel safe and engaged.

You will work with pupils across key stages, using calm, positive approaches to manage behaviour and support wellbeing. The role offers training and opportunities to progress within the trust.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths (grade C/4 or above) or equivalent.
• HLTA status or equivalent experience at a higher level within a school.
• Experience of working with children or young people.
• Ability to confidently lead whole-class learning and manage behaviour.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Committed to inclusion, safeguarding and achieving the best outcomes.
• Experience within SEMH, SEND or alternative provision with trauma-informed practice is advantageous.

Responsibilities

Join Our Team as a Cover Supervisor

We are seeking a dedicated, resilient and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor (HLTA) to join our supportive team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a positive difference to the lives of children and young people, particularly those with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

Working across our primary SEMH provision, you will provide high-quality classroom supervision and learning support during both planned and unplanned teacher absence. You will play a vital role in ensuring continuity of learning while helping pupils feel safe, valued and ready to succeed.

About the Role

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

• Has GCSE English and Mathematics (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent.
• Holds HLTA status or has equivalent experience working at a higher level within a school.
• Has experience of working with children or young people.
• Can confidently lead whole‑class learning and manage behaviour effectively.
• Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Is committed to inclusion, safeguarding and achieving the best outcomes for every pupil.
• Experience within an SEMH, SEND or alternative provision setting would be advantageous, as would knowledge of trauma‑informed practice and positive behaviour support approaches.
