Cover Supervisor – Secondary School (Lewes)

Full-Time | Long-Term | Start Date: September 2025 | From £115 per day (DOE)

A well-regarded secondary school in Lewes is seeking a Cover Supervisor to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis from September 2025. This is a brilliant opportunity for someone with previous experience in education who is looking to build on their classroom management skills and gain further school-based experience.

The Role

As a Cover Supervisor, you will step into the classroom when teachers are absent, delivering pre-set work and ensuring that lessons run smoothly. You’ll be responsible for managing student behaviour, maintaining a positive learning environment, and reporting back to teaching staff on progress or issues.

Key Responsibilities

• Delivering lessons from pre-prepared plans across a range of subjects
• Managing classroom behaviour and maintaining a purposeful learning environment
• Taking attendance and reporting any issues or concerns
• Supporting students in staying engaged with their learning
• Acting as a positive role model for young people
  
  

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

• Previous experience working with young people in a school or similar setting
• Strong communication and classroom management skills
• A calm, adaptable, and confident approach
• A passion for education and supporting learners
  
  

Requirements

• Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (essential)
• At least 2 months of experience working with children or young people
• Up-to-date safeguarding training (we can support with this if needed)
• Right to work in the UK
  
  

Pay

Starting from £115 per day, with potential for increased rates based on experience and responsibilities.

This role is ideal for aspiring teachers, sports coaches, or youth mentors looking to gain valuable school experience while making a real difference to students’ day-to-day learning.
