Job summary

Hindley Green Community Primary School is seeking a dedicated Cover Supervisor to maintain continuity in learning during staff absences, supervising whole classes and supporting SEND pupils to access the curriculum.

You will collaborate with teachers to implement lesson plans, manage behaviour positively, and provide targeted support to groups or individuals, fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

  • Have experience working with children, ideally in an educational or care setting.
  • Be confident in managing whole-class behaviour and supporting pupils with diverse learning needs.
  • Possess good literacy and numeracy skills, with the willingness to develop specialist knowledge.
  • Be adaptable, dependable, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Have a keen interest in supporting pupils’ personal development and well-being.
  • Be committed to ongoing professional development and reflective practice.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise whole classes during staff absences to maintain continuity in learning.
  • Work with teaching staff to implement lesson plans and support pupil engagement.
  • Provide targeted support to groups or individual pupils, including those with SEND.
  • Contribute to personalised learning plans and other school activities.
  • Create a safe, orderly learning environment and support pupils’ wellbeing.

About the Role

As a Cover Supervisor at Hindley Green Community Primary School , you will be a key player in maintaining continuity and stability in pupils’ education during staff absences. Your role will be to supervise whole classes, ensuring pupils remain engaged, focused, and supported in their learning activities. You will also provide targeted assistance to pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), helping them access the curriculum fully and confidently.

You will work closely with teaching staff to implement lesson plans, manage behaviour positively, and create a safe, orderly learning environment. Beyond classroom cover, you will support small groups or individual pupils, contribute to the development of personalised learning plans, and other school activities.
