Location: Colchester
Hours: 37 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (term time + INSET days)
Closing Date: Midnight, Sunday 1st June 2025

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Cover Supervisor to join the existing team at our thriving secondary school in Colchester. We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic individual with excellent interpersonal skills, a passion for education, and a dedication to supporting young people's learning and development.
As a Cover Supervisor, you will deliver pre-set lessons in the absence of the classroom teacher, ensuring pupils remain on task and engaged. When cover is not required, you will provide valuable support to other departments across the school. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to gain experience in a secondary school environment, whether you're considering a career in teaching or looking to take on a rewarding support role.
Supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of teachers
Organise and collate cover work for staff
Support external cover teachers with relevant information and lesson content
Maintain order and discipline in the classroom
Promote inclusion and ensure all students are supported and engaged
Respond to student queries and keep pupils on task
Provide general support across school departments as required
GCSE Grade A-C or equivalent in English and Maths
Recent experience or understanding of working in a school environment
Strong behaviour management and organisational skills
Ability to build trusting relationships with students
A calm and resilient approach under pressure
Familiarity with safeguarding and inclusion practices
Working knowledge of ICT to support classroom delivery
Previous experience working with young people is desirable, but full training and induction will be provided. Qualified Teacher Status is not required.
