Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking a confident Cover Supervisor to support daily school operations in Chorley. You will supervise classes in the absence of teaching staff, deliver pre-set work, manage behaviour and report outcomes to relevant staff.

Qualifications

  • Enhanced DBS check (Update Service) is required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Confident managing groups in a professional setting.
  • Ability to stay calm under pressure and make independent decisions.
  • Organised, flexible and dependable.
  • Experience with young people is desirable but not essential.
  • Demonstrates responsibility and professionalism.

Cover Supervisor

Location: Chorley

Contract Type: Full-time, Temporary

Rate of Pay: From £14.25 per hour

Start Date: September 2026

About the Role

We are looking for confident and reliable Cover Supervisors to support the smooth day-to-day running of schools by supervising classes in the absence of teaching staff. The successful candidate will oversee groups of students, deliver pre-set work, manage classroom behaviour, and ensure learning activities are completed effectively in a positive and professional environment. This role requires excellent communication and organisational skills, the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff, and the confidence to manage classrooms across a range of subjects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise groups and ensure work or activities are carried out as planned
  • Provide instruction based on pre-prepared materials or guidance
  • Maintain a safe, organised, and productive environment
  • Manage behaviour and address any issues appropriately
  • Report outcomes, progress, or concerns to the relevant team members
  • Support general operational or administrative tasks where required

We are seeking someone who:
  • Holds an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

  • Has experience working with young people or groups (desirable but not essential)
  • Demonstrates a strong sense of responsibility and professionalism
